No Name Losers retired on September 28th, 2007. 2007.12.22. ef - the first tale is one year old today! To celebrate the anniversary, we have updated ef Supah Preview with a good number of tweaks. If you haven't played it yet, now is a great time! Grab the new version at the project site. As Yuuko would say... Merry Christmas. 2007.12.11. Oops, the hit counter broke. It has been reset to 144500. Bring on the new hits! Here's something that's amusing and sad at the same time:
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend. Some people started editing not knowing what it was, and they'll continue editing forever just because. If this keeps up, it might even have a chance of being on the Lamest edit wars list. Read that for a good chuckle, then look at the above image again. Hmm. These Wikipedians are making all minori fans look bad. Why don't they do something meaningful, like add in an actual plot synopsis, or replace the Build A screenshots with Build C screenshots? Oh, that's right... because that requires the use of their brains. So why aren't we coming in and overhauling the article ourselves? If we did, it would only be edited into an insipid blob of mush. Besides, as you can see from above, we're not notable. One other thing. Notice how the title is now Wind: A Breath of Heart, not Wind -a breath of heart-? There was an edit war over that, too. 2007.12.02. VisualNews is no longer the official mirror of the Wind patch. They had over three weeks to fix their web site and they didn't. Loyalty seems to come on a short leash these days, given all the people in the community that we have wittingly aroused and excited. That's par for the course, since the Gemot is, after all, a cesspool of elitism. For example, this person, who runs this site, messaged me with this memo in private, probably because he was afraid of ruining what little reputation he had. Too bad. Your memo is now public for all the world to see. Nice to see that some people can be so... passionate about us. I spent $90 out of my own pocket two days ago to renew nnl1.com for nine more years. It took me less than ten minutes to do that. If I can maintain my web site with a few clicks of my mouse, surely someone with full-time job who also has the time to reply to my Gemot posts could also maintain their web site, correct? Nope! Not a chance. In any case, the files are now on our secondary mirror. Thanks, dovac. There will probably be another update before Christmas. See you soon! 2007.11.27. About page updated to reflect our retired status. 2007.10.13. Someone e-mailed us and reminded us of our Wind TV script dumps, which were finalized episode translations. After the 2006 news wipe, they were lost in limbo. Fortunately, they were still on the server. The script dump was halted because no one else really cared about it. It would be a shame if Reikoku's work was completely discarded due to circumstances beyond his control. Therefore, I have decided to finish the script dump sometime next year. The two episodes we did (10 and 12) are on the Fansub page, and will count towards our total release number. The remainder of Reikoku's Wind TV scripts and KSS OVA 2 (3 was never done) will be made available at the same time as Wind Patch Build D. I have to go through the game again in order to ensure that the scripts are of the highest quality we can achieve. 2007.10.03. Reikoku, the other No Name Loser, has some final words to say.
2007.09.28. That's all, folks! No Name Losers is now retired. You were probably expecting something big for our final new fansub, but it's not. ef - a tale of memories ~prologue~ rounds out our ef addiction. Yay! It's a shame that we're not doing the actual series, since it sure looks pretty! I almost forgot how much of a pain typesetting was. This will be the final regular update on this site. There will be two release updates in Q2 2008: Haruoto Demo Build B and Wind Patch Build D. Any other updates will be maintenance updates. Personal updates will be at Neko Nyan Liberation. Wind Patch Build D will have enough new content to warrant a second playthrough, since we plan on surprising you with some extra goodies that not even insani knows. Therefore, we'll be counting that as release #40. What a nice, even number to finish off things. I want to thank everyone listed in the About page for all their help and support over the years. Also, I want to thank everyone in #nnl for the countless, yet blissful hours of time wasted. Naming everyone would take up half a page, so I'll leave it at that. Take care, everyone. You may now remove this site from your bookmark list. ^_^; 2007.09.26. Some people are spreading rumors that we're about to disband. How are they rumors? If you cannot understand the image, I'll explain what's about to happen right here, right now: The next fansub will be the final new release. #nnl will remain for as long as the people in it see fit. However, NNL won't be completely dead. We will refresh our Haruoto Demo (Build B) and Wind Patch (Build D) sometime in 2008. After that, we're done. Period. There is no heir apparent. As mentioned in my 07.08 post, NNL did its job while bishoujo gaming knowledge in North America was virtually nonexistent. Now that other people are doing bigger and better things, there's no point in continuing. So why did we do ef Supah Preview if we consider ourselves to be obsolete? Since Reikoku only played a minor part in the Wind Patch, I wanted to do something with him that would make both of us proud. ef Supah Preview was that project. It's Reikoku's swan song, and I'm happy that he can finally sit down and watch Die Hard III. With all of our personal goals fulfilled, it's time for both of us to get on with our real lives. My only regret is that we never did complete a full-length series. Oh well. Can't win 'em all. 2007.09.24. Today we're releasing something special. We were originally working on a demo for a recent game. However, something wonderful happened along the way. So is today's release a demo? No, it's more than that. We enjoyed working on the demo so much, we simply had to continue the minority spirit. We knew that none of you would be satisfied with only the demo. I know what you're thinking... it couldn't be! Another complete game patch from NNL?! Sorry, but that is not what is coming out today. However, we did complete an entire commercial product. The game in question shouldn't be surprising, seeing as how we're the biggest minori fanboys this side of the world. It's ef - a fairy tale of the two, of course! We fansubbed not only ef - the first tale demo, but also ef first fandisc in its entirety! That only pushes the length to one which is a little longer than the Haru no Ashioto demo, but hey, at least we won't have to do it later! Working on this project was a breath of fresh air. I actually enjoyed working on it, unlike the latter stages of Wind. We took special care to exceed our usual expectations and used all of our translation and localization experience gained over the past five years. The extremely slow transitions that minori games are famous for have been rectified again! Best of all, there are zero, count them, zero lines deleted from the script. The source was very kind to us. In the end, the product is a playful script with a sprinkling of our own humor. We hope you like it, since we had lots of fun throughout all of this. Due to the unavailablity of ef first fandisc at HimeyaShop, we're making the entire thing a standalone. No drama this time, so what are you waiting for? Enjoy what we're calling the ef Supah Preview. Visit the project site here. Special thanks to Agilis who gave us a kickstart and translated 25% of the script. His Op translation was used with permission, although our draft was virtually exact (only one line was different). You ain't seein' no plagiarism from us, no sirree! Oh, last bit. Progress on the Wind fandisc is suspended until further notice. It's not going to be included in our countdown, so consider the project dead until I get the motivation to finish it. There will be no more mentioning of it until it's released. It'll be done... when it's done. Yeah, I know you're sick of that phrase. Go play ONE instead. I don't know how great it is myself, but it's definitely better than senseless ero. What I can tell you is that the fandisc does not contain anything relevant to the main story. At this point, I'd rather work on the Wind Reminiscence drama CD than the fandisc. 2007.09.19. So last week I ragged about visualnews.net. This time, the dunce cap is rewarded to a similar site, visual-novels.net. Plagiarism... how low can one stoop? Shame on you. UPDATE: The review is now original. 2007.09.17. No release today, but the denizens of #nnl have created a spinoff site, NNL! (Neko Nyan Liberation) It's your one-stop shop of blogs from every #nnl regular. Visit and bookmark it now! Keep in mind that NNL (this NNL) itself does not run the site. I only maintain my little section. 2007.09.12. Yesterday was Patriot Day. This proud member of #nnl was a true patriot:
We salute thee, oh Insani_Serv. Where can we get our Kakyuusei ELF OVA 1 now? 2007.09.11. Oh noes! Looks like I made the Gemot cry. Warning: High levels of internet drama may be hazardous to your health. The current project we're working on is progressing quite well. We'll try to get it out by the end of the month. What is it? Well... I don't want to get your hopes up in case we cancel it, but if it does get cancelled, we'll release something else instead. So for now, all I'll say is that we'll have something. That way, there won't be any disappointment. Over the years of reading academic and online news articles, I've come across many words that I didn't know. Putting these words in a text file and reviewing the list every couple of months is a great way to boost your vocabulary and editing skills. Most of these words will never see the light of day in a fansub, but there can be some diamonds in the rough. For example, one of our scripts used the word wandering (noun) to describe the actions of someone who walks around just to escape monotony. Then I came across a delightful word that was a better fit for the sentence: errantry. 2007.09.10. Peas 'n rice! Two updates in the same day! The previous update expressed my view in a civil and mature matter, yet some anonymous bar steward pasted the whole thing in their board and got the To Heart 2 project team upset. NNL did not respond to any of the blog posts regarding the Wind project because we had the gonads to keep some restraint and not fan the flames. Of course, their project leader lacks the maturity for any of that. I didn't want this, but you asked for it, you immature clumps. Time to debunk their silt response.
Why should I follow it? I wasn't interested. Of course, they are lumping me into the same group as the rude twits who do want it.
Oh right, reading older threads. Until this update, the board was... private! That's right, unless I was Boris Grishenko, I would not have been able to follow the project. Egads!
IRC channel? What IRC channel? Oh, that's right, the info is not on their web site because they were too lazy to make another one. Let's see if I can find the info in their message board... nope. Blaming people for not following the project when the project is near-impossible to follow? Peas 'n rice!
Registering your own .com costs $10. Registering a .tk is free. If they can't spend that much ($0) to move their web site, then one has to wonder if they even purchased the game at all. The new site doesn't have to be pretty. A simple text file on Geocities would have sufficed. Again, trying to look at other threads... nope. I see zero threads about programming progress. Peas 'n rice! It's bonus debunking time!
And that is why the Gemot (visualnews.net message board) is the cesspool of elitism. It's full of people who know Japanese, post anonymously in said language to maintain their erections, and rub it in the faces of the less fortunate. They can't do that in 2ch because posting in Japanese there wouldn't be anything special, would it? The fact that the administrator (Misu) hasn't cleaned up the place speaks volumes about his leadership. That, compounded with the fact that visualnews.net started the whole mess last summer, is why we're severing ties with them and choosing another host for our next release. NNL could easily post all of our updates in Japanese. However, we all know how ridiculous that would be. We're more down-to-earth than that. Your tantrum has been debunked, TH2 project team! Have a nice funkin' day. Aren't you glad that NNL is up-front about what we do? Remember to stop by our IRC channel if you want! We've got nothing to hide. 2007.09.10. This is a rare, serious update that does not concern us. However, there are some who will inevitably compare it to what happened last summer, so please bear with me as I express my views. Thank you. The To Heart 2 translation project was "completed" yesterday. By "completed", I mean that they consider the current status to be final and have released something. However, their patch is non-public. Only those whom they trust have it. This appears to draw parallels of how we first handled Build A of the Wind patch. I will respect them and not paste their verbatim statement, since it may be retracted at any time. I will simply paraphrase so that as many people can understand what is going on. All of the following points are their own allegations. 1) They have released a patch. 2) They will not release it to the public. This is where the similarities between this project and the Wind project end. We allowed anyone to come into the channel and answer one question based on the game packaging. However, the hopefuls insulted our intelligence by giving answers that were not only a little off, but way off. After the Supah Hamonika Test was terminated, we administered the test in its entirety to Edward Keyes, our BitTorrent assistant. He had no prior knowledge of the questions beforehand, but he answered every question correctly. We then put up a notice that the patch distribution would be terminated. This update occurred at 3AM. It was then retracted at around 5AM. There were less than one hundred hits to the web site during this time. However, one site attempting to pass off as a legitimate news portal pasted the update in its entirety, refused to remove it at our behest, and all hell broke loose the next day. I called an emergency meeting with insani and voted to release the patch to the public. Our intentions were spelled meticulously on our web site and insani's web site. Anyone who claimed that we were not going to release it was simply lying. Five months later, we did. On the other hand, the To Heart 2 translation project team has no further plans. 3) They are allowing the people who have the patch to distribute it to whomever they see fit. The To Heart 2 patch does not have these luxuries. It will inevitably be leaked, as there are people desperate enough to befriend someone for a few months, obtain the patch, and leak it anonymously. The project team is fighting an unwinnable battle. If they did not want the patch to be public, why publicize it in the first place? Some people may think that translation is the most difficult part of a translation project. I disagree. There are a number of projects which are at the 80-100% translation point (Kanon, Cross Channel, Shuffle!, Men at Work 2) for quite some time. Why have they stalled? 2006 was set to be the year of bishoujo game patches, yet only Wind and Tsukihime came out. What set those two projects apart from the others? Leadership. Leadership is grabbing the reins, keeping your mouth shut, and focusing on the task at hand. It is about guiding everyone, including yourself, who may have conflicted views, into one solid compromise. It is about taking chances, slipping up, and having the wisdom to admit you're wrong. We apologized for our brief update almost immediately, retracted it, and made a new statement. Had we lingered for a couple of days, the situation would have been much worse. Also, the voting during the emergency meeting was secret, but I will reveal my vote: I voted to discontinue. I did it for my own selfish reasons. After the vote, I could have dismissed the whole process, but after a month of thought, I was able to understand the altruism of the others and begin the process of completing Build C. A firm choice was made. The fact remains that the people in the To Heart 2 translation project are not obligated to give you anything. However, the signs for this project were rather conspicuous. Aside from a couple of screenshots, no one outside their clique knows if their project is for real. Programming has been mysteriously stuck at 0/100 for the entire duration of the project. In contrast, we proved ourselves by releasing the Wind demo, which turned out to be the most effective method of finding a person who was willing to translate the entire game. We showed many work-in-progress screenshots in our IRC channel to people outside the project, and our status report was accurate to the day that alpha-testing ended, chronicling our efforts down to the nearest percent. I have never talked to the people in the To Heart 2 translation project, and I likely never will. But if they can't be truthful to themselves or the ones who are patiently waiting, then perhaps the project was doomed to have this epilogue from the beginning. One final thing: NNL does not have possession of the patch. 2007.09.04. About page updated. Check out the boring essay on translation style! ~.~ 2007.08.26. We got an encoder. Look for some goodies soon, nyan~ 2007.08.18.
See, we've got this raw with variable framerate, and XVID simply can't deal with it. The script is synced with the middle section, but the opening and ending sections are off. Another problem is that the original version itself was a tad desynced, so the encoder will have to reshape the audio in order to get the meticulous accuracy that NNL desires. Don't bother applying if you don't have any experience, because VFR is painful stuff. I should know. :( 2007.08.11. Um yeah, I think it's about time we released something. Here's the opening to an obscure 2004 bishoujo tactics game called Relict ~Forgotten Era~. The singer, Haruka Shimotsuki, went on to sing the themes for equally obscure PS2 games Atelier Iris and Ar tonelico. Oh, and she also did the ending themes for Rozen Maiden. I once karaoked this song. >_>; Okay, so grab it here! It'll be on the BitTorrent in a little while. This marks a closing chapter in NNL's history. This will be the final fansub encoded in XVID. We're moving to x264 for our remaining fansubs. We were one of the first groups to adopt XVID, but the codec is now over five years old and has reached its ceiling. But wait! The countdown hasn't changed! What happen? Did someone set up us the bomb? No! We've decided to do one more thing. However, it's not out in Japan yet, but we've pre-ordered the sucker and will hopefully get it out by the end of the month! Ranting time. Reikoku purchased The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Vol. 2 LE last week. Some of you know that I purchased the Vol. 1 LE at AnimeNorth 2007. Let me tell you that I never watched the fansubs, so unlike almost everyone, the R1 DVDs would be my entry into the wild cult of Haruhiism. Vol. 1 was very good, and I was looking forward to watching Vol. 2. I eagerly popped in the disc and expected more of the same. Unfortunately, someone at Bandai decided to give us North American blokes the middle finger. The show effectively reaches its conclusion at episode 6. WTF? Then I went around to some sites and found out that episode 6 is actually episode 14, the final episode. Apparently, the original TV run aired the episodes out of order, causing great speculation as to what was going to happen. Of course, now that I've seen the final episode, the remaining episodes are filler. Crappity-crap-crap filler! And this was supposed to be one of the best series of 2006? Nice going, Bandai. I was going to purchase the rest of the series, but you blew it big time by putting the episodes in chronological order. I know it was released this way in Japan, but everyone who purchased it in Japan have probably already watched the whole thing. I feel cheated, and the show is now ruined for me. I regret purchasing the Vol. 1 LE. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya gets an F. 2007.07.12. EVGA finally shipped my card, so NNL should be back in business real soon! Shingo from JAST apparently hangs out at #nnl (thanks to the Gemot), so if you want to throw your two cents on how he should translate 2007.07.10. There has been a power struggle among the staff at the ZIRC IRC network. #nnl has switched servers to where the ex-ZIRC staff now reside, irc.synirc.net. This is why we never put IRC channel information in our fansubs. First LINKIRC, then MIRCX, now ZIRC. Whee~ EVGA still hasn't shipped my RMA video card. Don't buy from them. 2007.07.08. NNL is five years old today. The info page for release #1 (Ai Yori Aoshi 11) states that work started on July 9th, 2002, but the actual founding of the group was the day before. Happy birthday to us, I guess, but this is likely the final birthday for NNL. Well, since the work compy is still out of service, I thought I'd write up an anecdote. Before No Name Losers, I was heavily involved in something called ZZT. It was what started my IRC habit in 1996. I left the ZZT fan community for a while, but came back in Fall 1999 by entering that season's 24 hours of ZZT contest. The premise was simple: one had to create a game in 24 hours using the assigned topic. It was the premier event of ZZT, one that every ZZTer dreamed of winning. I placed third in that contest, then proceeded to win the contest next season. I was on top of my niche hobby. I thought I could keep it up for the next year and beyond. As Christmas 1999 neared, I was craving the the goodness that was Laura Secord ice cream, so I went to the local mall. Winter is definitely the best time to enjoy frozen goodies, in my opinion. I sat on a bench enjoying my treat, brainstorming the topic of the next 24HoZ (winners hosted the next contest). Then I noticed the person beside me. He was talking on a cell phone about Unreal. Once he hung up, I said to him, "Epic Megagames rules." He looked at me with surprise, and introduced himself as the one and only Mark Rein, vice-president of Epic Megagames (now Epic Games). He seemed genuinely impressed that I knew his company's entire lineup. As I went through each game, there was a look of nostalgia in his face as he remembered Epic's days as a company making a living through shareware. Then I got to ZZT. He smiled at first, but his expression changed as I told him that I was an active member of the fan community. He gave me a line of advice that I still remember to this day: "ZZT is outdated. Don't waste your time on it." After fulfilling my obligation of hosting the next season's 24HoZ, I started spending less time on the hobby. Perhaps it was the impending start of high school, or perhaps it was a subconscious feeling that anything I did would be forgotten. Mark's words kept repeating themselves as I talked in the various ZZT IRC channels. My Fall 2000 and Winter 2000 24HoZ games were unfinished, not because I ran out of time, but because I had lost interest midway. I did not touch ZZT ever again. It took a year for Mark's prophecy to finally become a reality. As for my legacy, my work was never released on the ZZT archive site. I entertained the idea of releasing an updated compilation of my work, but it was too much work for absolutely no gain. The final 24HoZ that collected at least twenty submissions was in Fall 2001. After that, the contest suddenly lost its lustre due to lack of leadership and general apathy. In addition, most of the regulars who were involved in ZZT in the late 1990s were now over twenty years old. ZZT's issue of sustainability had finally done itself in. As of today, the contest no longer exists. Winter 2001 was a time of new beginnings. It was my second year of high school. I had made new friends, moved to a new place, and even got a new computer. One day in my instrumental music class, the teacher paired me with two fellow clarinettists for an ensemble. I didn't think too much of them. Two of us went over to the other person's house for practice. This person's room was filled with a strange collection of colorful material. It was the room of Reikoku, who would eventually turn out to be my best friend and lead me into the world of anime fansubbing with Angelic Layer. When he and I formed the No Name Losers five years ago along with two other people, I knew that it would eventually end at some point. What I did want to do before then was to make a difference, unlike my ZZT "career." Which brings us to today. NNL is outdated. During our peak, our fansubs were based off bishoujo games that weren't even six months old in Japan. We fansubbed the Ops for Baldr Force and Kazoku Keikaku back when they were considered new instead of all-time classics. We scanned Getchu, Gamelex, and a bunch of other news sites in order to obtain the latest bishoujo game media that was available. By 2006, I stopped trying to keep up with everyone else. The talk in #nnl had progressed to the point where I was overwhelmed by the slew of "insider" information. And, of course, my Japanese still sucked. After the Wind fiasco, I wondered whether all of this was still worth it. It wasn't. It couldn't. However, at AnimeNorth 2007, I bumped into someone who told us how NNL changed his life, about how he got into bishoujo gaming because of us. Then the Hendane! person recognized me and ardently spoke about the Wind project. I became aware that there were a lot of silent people who knew us and appreciated what we have done. Perhaps we did make a difference after all. Thank you, everyone, for five years of support. 2007.07.03. We've got some good, bad, and ugly news! First the bad news... The video card on the primary fansub work computer (eVGA 8800GTS 640) blew out its fan after about 35 days of usage. There won't be any releases or progress until it comes back from RMA in about a week. =( Now the good news! Kazoku Keikaku has been announced by JAST USA at Anime Expo 2K7. No idea whether it will come out under the G-Collections brand or the Peach Princess brand, since they now own both companies. An NNL emissary spoke to the head honcho of JAST USA, Peter Payne, and he stated that he doesn't mind our fansubbed Op. Therefore, it will continue to be featured on the NNL Shorts BitTorrent until further notice. It's funny how they announced it four years to the day of our release... According to EroGameScape, Kazoku Keikaku is the best 18+ bishoujo game ever, with the 2002 DVD version boasting a phenomenal 88.87% average! That is better than the 18+ versions of Kanon [80.22%], AIR [82.71%], Fate/stay Night [87.55%], and the PC version of CLANNAD [87.52%]. But don't believe JAST USA when they say that it's higher than everything, because Ever17 Premium Ed. PC (Hirameki's version) is still higher with 89.59%. In spite of this, it is indeed the best in its class (18+ PC), period! As long as they don't make the ridiculous claim that the characters are 18 years old, we're in for a treat. If they do, I will lick my very dirty work uniform. PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME LICK IT. Ugly news... Hendane! was selling Wind at Anime Expo 2K7, but an #nnl ninja reported that they were the CD versions which are incompatible with our patch. Yahoo! Japan Auctions is currently the only place to actually purchase it. Remember, the DVD version has "Re:gratitude" plastered on the front; the CD version does not! Progress on the Wind fandisc had been moving along (until the video card failed), but it is still our last priority at the moment. Work is over for me, so it's time to wrap things up! I promise there will be more frequent updates from now on... 2007.06.09. *sigh* There was supposed to be a release today, but work called me in because they fired the second dishwasher I trained a couple of weeks ago. But it's over soon! I'm quitting my dishwashing job as of July 2nd, which will allow me one month to end things properly before I go back to school in mid-August. Just eighteen shifts left... I'm sick and tired of missionairies visiting our apartment building. Then I was stupid enough to allow them to convince me that I needed to go to church. They're expecting me at 12PM this Sunday. I hate God. Since NNL is almost dead, expect more blog-like ranting in future updates. If that isn't your cup of tea, TFB4U! <falls asleep> 2007.06.03. I had a great time at AnimeNorth. Nothing to see here anymore... Hendane! Why is Dallas the center of the North American anime universe? Number of people who recognized the No Name Losers at AnimeNorth 2007: 2 2007.05.14. Have a taste of Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo Op, or in layman's terms, the opening for Country Wheel, Sunflower Girl! A ridiculous name for a ridiculous game! The game itself is about a bunch of emos who live in a modern-day totalitarian state. I'd talk about it some more, but someone has already done it for me. For reasons that only God knows, this premise turned out to be one of the best bishoujo games of 2005, achieving an outstanding score of 90% on EroGameScape. Note that Key did not release a major game in 2005, so uh... yeah. No, Tomoyo After isn't a major game. But enough about that, let's talk about the background story behind this fansub. Right after Wind was done, Reikoku and I wanted to do a non-minori game demo. We settled on Sharin because we heard nothing but praise for it. Script and graphic extraction was easy because it used an open source engine called KiriKiri. The demo script was gargantuan, nearly half the size of Wind! With absolutely zero technical barriers in our way, we were all set to do it during Fall 2006. Unfortunately, as you probably figured out by now, the project was cancelled. Why? It had poor nose. Because it had pour knows, we couldn't do it. I went insane going through the pore knolls in Wind, and I simply couldn't ask Reikoku to do more after he went into delirium as a result of translating the Wind fandisc. This opening is what remains from our original goal. It's not much, and there aren't even any karaoke effects, but at least it's better than nothing. It's not on our BitTorrent yet, so grab it here via SendSpace. AnimeNorth is less than two weeks away! Wai wai~ Last bit before I go poof... someone finally reviewed Wind. All I can say is... it's about damn time. 2007.05.06. Reikoku finished his final translation for NNL last night. What does this mean? It means that we will not take on any new projects, and that the remaining queue is my responsibility. In other words, the finish line is in sight, and NNL will cease operations as soon as the queue is done. This was a decision that was reached by both Reikoku and I over some arduous conversations on the phone. We feel that we have contributed more than enough over the years, and so we are announcing our retirement. Get ready. The countdown has begun. You already know what one of the remaining fansubs is, and if you were observant in the IRC channel, you know another. What could the last two be? Wait and see... 2007.04.02. Yeah, that was a terrible April Fool's joke. Oh well. To all who are wondering: we're not dead. We've got a couple of things up our sleeve. It's going to be a busy time between now and AnimeNorth 2007! Stay tuned! We always keep minority spirit... >_> NNL needs a web host for the AnimeNorth 2006 footage, titled NEKO (NNL's Experience at a KOnvention). The channel regulars already know where to get episode one, but I'm afraid this site will implode if it hosts the rest. Once we get a host, we'll release more episodes of NEKO like someone with diarrhea. The following has been happening a lot lately, so here goes! Big hint for IRC noobs: If you come into our channel with a question, please stay on the channel for at least 18 hours before leaving. Don't think that you'll get a response immediately, because that's not how IRC works! If I am GipFace, that means I am active. If I am GipFazed, that means I'm asleep or out of the home for hidden reasons. If I am YellowCardboard, that means I am at work! 2007.02.18. Oops. It seems that there were two audio streams in the Adult Video King opening, one of which was a WAV file. Get an improved version We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused... if there was any. 2007.02.17. Wai wai! We made the front page of Tsunami Channel. Joy! Now all we need to do is move up to the big leagues and have our game featured in one of the blog rants at MegaTokyo... but ehh, like that'll ever happen. Wind wasn't made by Key, after all. Oh, and we have a new bishoujo game opening for you to eat, even though we swore never to do one again! Here is Before you ask, it's work-safe, like all of our other openings! BREAK THE RULE! 2007.02.09. Three days later, Wind has turned into a hurricane! Let's see what people around the world have said about this patch. Putting our response here is better than registering on a bajillion different sites...
General apathy, eh? I have more than 757 reasons why you're wrong!
But didn't you hear? DNF had a screenshot released a week and a half ago! It's coming!
Thank you, Wikipedia! It's nice to know I can get my daily Engrish fix there. Of course, it really did come out on June 21st, 2006, because anyone could have obtained it then. Warcraft III was updated a little while ago; does that mean it only recently came out? Nooooo! Speaking of which, the Wiki entry for Wind is in a dismal state. Hopefully, as more fanboys complete the game, it will receive a major overhaul with juicy bits such as character bios and spoilers. In fact, if the Wiki is improved enough over the week, I'll post some preview screenshots of the fandisc localization! Come on, you can do it!
No no! Don't play Wind over hanging out with your friends or drinking yourself into submission! Here's a better idea: Hang out with your friends, get drunk, then play the game in front of them and read each line out loud! You'll have a grand time, we guarantee it!
Ha ha ha! Glad to know you didn't detect our malware code which will destroy the master boot record of your hard drive when you run the game for the 13th time! And before everyone rushes to their blogs and reports of the impending doom, note that the previous sentence is false. Ho ho ho!
Sure! All you have to do is stand up, wiggle your butt, raise your hands above your head, and shake them wildly as you rotate 360 degrees! That's what it's all about! NNL's next item up for display will not be Wind-related, so if you are sick and tired of the minority spirit, don't worry! Good times are ahead! 2007.02.06. Welcome to version 3.1 of the web site, new for 2007! The .1 features two very minor changes:
Remember that you'll usually obtain a faster response via our IRC channel, so if you haven't popped in, do so! It has a population of about 40, but it's got more activity than some channels with 100 or even 1000 users! There's barely a dull moment. After too many delays, Build C is out out out! Visit the Wind project page for all the details! Have fun! Props go to the ten or so people who have Build A but did not leak it all this time. I know I would have bet on someone defecting by now. You guys have exemplary morals and stand above all the pirates who clawed at your feet. Thank you. Oh, and props go to DarkMirage for being civil about his views in his blog. If the world had more mature bloggers like him, perhaps more people would be laid. He got his point across, which is better than what I can say about some other bloggers out there. Isn't it amusing that the only people who spoke intelligently about the recall were the ones who weren't interested in the game? Anyway, see you around! |
