Info...

This is the opening sequence to the 2001.07.27 bishoujo game My fair Angel. It's filled with quotes from the game itself. If you like Studio e.go's work, you'll recognize this.

Story...

After the success of Wind -a breath of heart- Op, I obtained two more "2-minute" raws and we decided to do both of them. One of them was the Majyo No Otya Kai Op. It ended up being semi-abandoned until late November because we couldn't interpret its lyrics.

The second project was this one. Fortunately, we understood these lyrics. The original translation and edit was done by September 17th. But then, I got lazy and discouraged, mainly because of the failure of the Majyo No Otya Kai Op. I left for nearly two months, and we didnt come back into the Anime fansubbing scene until the beginning of November. During that time, NNL was dying a slow, grisly death. All of us ended up with a ton of schoolwork. Since this was our final year in high School, anime came second, and my once-proud collection of fansub CDs became outdated (I eventually threw them all away). I didn't download anything during this time, while my friends couldn't watch anything. It looked like NNL finally bit the dust like so many other small fansub groups.

However, something magical happened. Someone in our school had formed an anime club. The problem was that this club was an insult, showing nothing but action shows like Trigun to please the crowd while not letting anyone have their say. Fuelled by this pathetic excuse for an anime club, I decided to continue on this project alone, as the others thought it was dead like Majyo No Otya Kai. I started to time and typeset the flashes around the last week of October, and handed the script to a happy anrp on the 31st.

He took his sweet time typesetting the karaoke in this one. Forget about using SSA. He used some other scripting language to automate the output of hundreds of lines. Eventually, our one 17kB script was turned into two scripts totalling 398kB! It's inhuman, I tell you...

The magic didnt end there. He ended up breaking the 20MB barrier on this encode without a big quality loss using some other weird command-line program. The end-product came out on the 18th of November. However, this release wasn't as widely received as Wind -a breath of heart- Op because B-F's channel had shrunk in size. Turns out they didn't release anything by themselves either over that time.

There was some feedback, with most of it going to anrp because of the uber typesetting. He deserved all of it. Anyway, this boulder was finally behind us. With the No Name Losers back in action, it was time to head forward! I started to make a web site for NNL shortly after this release.

Qualitative rating - 6
Even though the karaoke was uber, there's one little problem. You can't actually karaoke to it because the characters come on the screen one by one! The encode was also average due to the heavy compression. If it weren't for those problems, this could have easily been an 8 or 9.

Feedback...
I lost all of my 2002 logs, but you can be sure that anrp received a huge chunk of praise.

Side notes...
  • The main girl is called Mave, and you see the three phases of her in the clip.
  • The second girl is Erin. I have no idea what her relationship to you is in the game, although she doesn't seem like a forgiving character.
  • The third girl is Sheila. Again, I have no idea who she is. I don't own this game, okay?!
  • For those of you who are wondering, a roricon means "lolita complex". Roricon games are bishoujo games that depict really young, pre-teenager characters. Of course, the Japanese game-makers always claim that they are over 18, but who are they kidding? Remember that hentai of any age is legal so long as it was not modeled or depicted from a real-life person.
  • The song? Uh, Thank you for your love, sung by CANDY.
