Info...

This is the first episode of Mizuiro 2003, a two-part OVA that is based off the 2001 bishoujo game by NekoNeko Soft. Encoded from the actual DVD source for best results!

Yuki, Hiyori, and Kenji were childhood friends, but then Hiyori had to move away. Yuki and Hiyori are now in high school, and one night, a ghost of Hiyori appears inside Kenji's room. Does Hiyori have a secret to tell?

This is the second OVA of Mizuiro, published by NEC Interchannel. The first OVA was published by Pink Pineapple in 2002 and it involved gratuitous amounts of hentai. However, this one is suitable for all ages. The game, H OVA, and this OVA are not connected to each other in any way, so it's okay to watch this one by itself.

Story...

madgat imported a DVD from Japan and told us that we should sub it. It was something called Mizuiro. Immediately I thought of the hentai OVA. But surprise! This one is for everyone!

We started to work on this one right after the Baldr Force Op. madgat also bought the CD singles and once again we obtained the official lyrics. In fact, madgat faxed the lyric sheet to us for complete accuracy. TL and timing were completed in 4 days, and with 402 timed lines, it was hard work. To compare, Wind -a breath of heart- Omake OVA only had 166. Of course, it was only 16 minutes long.

Killa-Kan actually volunteered to join in on the editing session this time around and we had a round-table edit (something that hasnt been done since AYA 12). Kyosuke offered once again to do a final edit, and he noticed a couple of things we missed. Thank you, Kyosuke!

Work wrapped up in 9 days, and we released V1. However, there were audio desync problems and we had to release a V2 18 hours later. And guess what? There were two other versions that had circulated the internet by then. Hee hee~

We were pressed for time on this release, so the credits werent translated. They are in episode 2!

Qualitative rating - 2

This is a very bad fansub (regardless of it being marked as a V2!). Actual spelling errors, an Op TL that is very inaccurate, and a butt-ugly font selection for the subtitles. Not to mention some weird translated lines coming up every so often. One of Reikoku's worst efforts. Here's just a sample of mistakes:

  • 1) And now, the weather for the Zenboku Region should be And now, the national (zenkoku) weather. 2) scrapbook should be yearbook.
  • Three spelling mistakes: practise and atrracted, and you when it's supposed to be your.

But don't worry. If there is one episode we are likely to redo, this is it. We need to put it up to par with episode 2, which was much much better.

This episode can be used as a skill test. If people think it's good, they haven't seen a good fansub.

Feedback...
"Just watched [it] ... very nice indeed, great job and keep'm coming :)"

"I saw Mizuiro v2 by NNL so [I] decided to get that (was intending at first to go for the Miyuki Fansub release, but thought I might as well give you a try first) ... Ok, I just watched [it] and I LOVED it...the anime itself and your work with it. I really look forward to seeing episode 2 done by you guys and I will {definitely} swing by when it comes out....now I only hope you [are] just as speedy [and do a good] job as with the first episode."

"Really nice encoding and translation of Mizuiro, good work guys!"

Side notes...
  • Mansion is translated to condominium in our version. Why? In Japan, the term 'mansion' refers to condiminiums or large apartments. Want a real-life example? When Reikoku's relatives from Japan visited, they marveled at all the 'mansions' downtown.
  • The Op song is Aoi No Tsuzuki (Continuing Sky), sung by Hiromi Satou.

Shindou loves to tease Yuki and Kenji.

This is the most ecchi you'll see in this show. That's a good thing.
