Info...

Melody of a Reunion
Makoto is starting a new semester. He meets his old friends and has a blast at the local cafe after school, but he suddenly needs to go back to campus in order to retrieve his English textbook. Once there, he hears a nostalgic memory...

This is the first episode of Wind TV. It is your typical introduction episode, so there really isn't much other than everyone poking their heads into view.

Story...

Along with the Wind KSS OVA, a TV version of the show would debut in July 2004. After grabbing the first episode, Reikoku TLed it within a couple of days. drvtech, a translator from Seichi, also TLed the entire episode for us. The dual effort helped greatly. When one of translators made a mistake, the other was there to correct him. gp32 was busy translating the game and was unavailable. He said he would QC the final product, though.

Our initial raw was an AT-X TV broadcast raw, and it was ugly. We decided to wait for the BS-i raws. Once we got them, we went into our usual lazy streak and decided to wait until madgat obtained the R2 DVD in October. We had a kickass source and official lyrics because madgat also purchased the music CDs.

By this time, gp32 was just about finished translating the entire game. We decided to use the game as a canon source for the anime, thus making it the most accurate Wind fansub out of the pack. Then we hit a snag. SSA4 couldn't shift my timings for the Op karaoke. I refused to continue working on the episode until I could figure out a way.

Landcaster with his elite Java skills came to the rescue. He made a little program which did exactly what I wanted! Now I wouldn't need to suffer in TextPad for hours changing every little thing! Game editing delayed this release until January. By this time, the subtitle work was the best I've ever done. Every person had customizable colors along with the usual directional subs. Landcaster put the icing on the cake by creating not one, but two splashes! He modified my opening splash Photoshop file, then produced an awesome credit roll with a little window that played the entire episode in reverse!

This was the first fansub we released since My fair Angel Op which didn't have a direct HTTP/FTP download option. We had grown too popular, and HTTP leech was no longer a viable solution. BitTorrent became the distribution method of choice along with the traditional newsgroup posting.

Qualitative rating - 10

Now this is the stuff that NNL is made of. Watch it, then tell us how sucktastic we really are! With three translators and the entire Wind Translation Project team overlooking this episode, there are no major mistakes to report.

Side notes...
  • This episode takes place on Tuesday, April 9th.
  • What's the song in our pre- and post-episode splashes? Feel on the Wind -Afternoon Mix-, sung by the same singer as the original (Hiroko Kasahara).
