This installation guide assumes that you are on a typical non-Japanese setup without Wind installed. While our patch will detect all copies of Wind on the computer, it is highly recommended that you apply our patch to a fresh installation. Check the FAQ for system requirements before proceeding.

1. Make sure your computer is on Japanese locale.
Someone by the name of kagami has written an excellent tutorial. Only part A is required to run Wind. Instructions for Windows Vista should be similar.

2. Pop in the game disc.
Autoplay should automatically fire up the installer. If not, access your optical drive and run SETUP.EXE.

3. Navigate the Japanese installation program.
Once the dust settles, you should be staring at this popup:

It's your typical introduction screen. Make sure no other copies of Wind are running (e.g. the demo) and click on the N button (the other button is to quit). Popup number two looks like this:

You should be intelligent enough to figure out what this is. The R button will allow you to change the installation folder. If you do, you may see a prompt box to confirm creation of a new folder (Y for yes). Click on the N button to continue.

This popup allows you to name the folder which will appear in the Start menu. However, our patch will automatically rename this folder, so leave it as WindRP. If you do not want a Start menu folder, do not worry, as our patch will give you the option to remove it. Click on the N button to begin the file copying.

Once the file copying is complete, you will see this screen. Click on the only button available to exit the installer.

4. Run the patch.
You do not need to update your copy of Wind to the latest Japanese version, so simply run the patch without batting an eye. It will conduct a thorough check of your system to see if your computer is up to specifications. Any error messages you may encounter are explained in detail, so the patching process should be painless.

Enjoy the game!

If you wish to uninstall Wind, our patch replaces the Japanese uninstaller with an English equivalent.
